I took this photo of this tree in my front yard. The light source was the sun in the late afternoon. I made this shadow look the way it did by standing at an angle so that the shadow of the tree dragged out across the driveway to make the shadow appear a lot longer than it actually was. I didn't show any part of myself except my shadow in the corner because I felt that it would've taken away from this photo. I liked this specific photo because the angle makes the shadow appear a lot larger than the actual tree and I like how there's only a part of the tree and it appears really small, but it has a really big shadow. I liked the picture with the bowl of apples because I thought the shadow became very cool and it looked interesting compared to a normal shadow. I also liked the shadow of the chandelier because the only light source I used was a flashlight and it was black otherwise, and I thought it looked interesting because it was all black. |

This project was to take different pictures to fit the different elements and principles of art and my photos show the different types of angles and colors there can be. Art: The genre art was to show that photography is as creative as a work of art. Photography and War: Photography and war is a genre that showed graphic photos to the public and created some controversy. Digital Truth: Digital truth created controversy among the people because it made the public never know if a photo was real or staged or photoshopped. Presidential Image-Making: Presidential image-making is a genre that portrays political views through a simple photograph. Advertising and Persuasion: Advertising and persuasion is a genre that is supposed to convince you to like a product or someone through a photograph. Social Change: Social change is a photographic genre that is trying to solve a social problem and get a certain public reaction through a singular photo. Cultural Identity: Cultural identity is what you are taking pictures of and your style of photography. I think this photo of the books stacked together shows both cultural identity and art because the books are stacked in a creative way and it does show who I want to be as a photographer and what kind of pictures I want to take. The first assignment was to take a picture of my favorite thing. The reason for this blog is to document all the different pieces of art I create throughout the year and this blog is a way to make my portfolio more like me. My favorite thing or things are my cats. My cats are my favorite things because they are the first cats I have had in my life that haven't been mean and self-reserved. They like to just sit there and sleep, and their life is so simple compared to the lives of humans. I like this photo because it has a different angle and I thought that it looked cooler than the ones that I had taken from a lower angle. |
